Frequently Asked Questions

Moccasins

What sizes do your Mocs go up to?

They start at 0-6 months and go up to 3T. Most of the shoes I make are in the 6 months-18 month age, as these kind of soft soled shoes are most ideal for crawling/early walkers.

What do your shoes cost?

The Mocs range from $40-$50 depending on size/fabric used. I use high end woven fabric that has a higher price point then most materials. I price individual shoes based on the cost of the wrap used.

Do you make adult shoes?

Not at this time, but I hope to in the future!

What kind of leather do you use?

I use a canadian distributor that specializes in small batch hides, sourced from the best tanneries.

How do I care for the Mocs?

It is best to avoid any machine washing if possible. I recommend hand washing or wiping with a damp cloth. Care instructions may vary depending on the wrap used (wool/silk)

Jewelry

Do you use solder?

No, I use argentium silver, which is an alloy that is easily fused.

What metals do you use?

My main material is either Fine silver or Argetnium silver. I also use sterling silver chain and make my own sterling findings and clasps. I also use 22k gold for semi and full custom designs.

What kind of leather do you use?

I use naturally dyed and tanned leather cord that comes from the United States. The United States have much higher standards for leather production compared to many countries.

What kind of cleaning agents do you use to clean your pieces?

I use a home made pickling agent made of vinegar and salt to clean metal after soldering. These pieces are then boiled in a baking soda bath and then soaked and rubbed in gentle soap. They are then rinsed in clean water.

My goal is to make jewelry that I feel 100% happy with both in style and safety. All designs are my own and I strive to continue to push my work in new and exiting directions.

I spent a year studying jewelry and metal design full time at the Kootaney School of the Arts in Nelson, BC where learned many different techniques.  Safety and quality of work is something that I also gained from my studies there.
